"Brianna Johnson serves as the Financial Advisor for Edmondson’s Independent Living Home, where she brings a wealth of experience in finance, education, and operations management. A proud graduate of the University of Houston–Downtown MBA program (Class of 2018), Brianna is deeply committed to empowering individuals with the knowledge and tools to build financial stability and independence.

Originally from Los Angeles, CA, Brianna has called Houston home for the past decade. In addition to her work with Edmondson’s Independent Living Home, she serves as an Adjunct Professor, teaching personal finance and equipping students with essential life skills in budgeting, investing, and long-term planning.

Her professional journey includes nine years as a Program Director at the University of Houston and her current role as Operations Manager at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Beyond her corporate and academic roles, Brianna actively practices real estate, combining her business acumen with a passion for helping others reach their personal and financial goals.

A devoted mother of two, Brianna thrives in what she calls “organized chaos” — balancing career, family, and community impact with intention and purpose. Her work at Edmondson’s Independent Living Home reflects her belief that financial literacy is not just about numbers; it’s about creating stability, dignity, and opportunity for every individual."

 MEET & GREET

JPEG image-2_edited.jpg

This introductory virtual meet-and-greet is a warm and confidential invitation to individuals seeking support and connection within our domestic violence survivor community. We understand that taking the first step can be challenging, and our primary goal for this session is to create a safe, comfortable, and empowering space where everyone feels heard and respected.

This isn't a therapy session, but rather an opportunity to connect with peers, learn about the support group's approach, and get a gentle introduction to a community dedicated to healing and resilience.

What We'll Discuss (Topics & Flow):

1. Warm Welcome & Group Guidelines (5-10 mins):

• Introduction from Facilitator(s): A brief, empathetic welcome and an explanation of our commitment to safety and respect.

• Confidentiality First: We will clearly establish and commit to strict confidentiality for all shared experiences within the group. What's said here, stays here.

• Respectful Communication: Guidelines for listening actively, speaking from personal experience ("I" statements), and avoiding judgment.

• "Pass" Option: Reassuring everyone that participation is voluntary, and it's always okay to "pass" if you're not ready to share.

Awareness and Intervention (For General Public & Professionals)

Understanding Domestic Violence: Recognition, Response, and Resources

This vital virtual class offers participants a comprehensive overview of Domestic Violence (DV), moving beyond physical abuse to explore its complex psychological, emotional, and financial forms. Designed for concerned community members, employers, educators, and service professionals, the course provides the tools needed to recognize the subtle signs of abuse in others and, potentially, in their own lives.

Knowledge is the first step toward safety and advocacy.

Key Learning Outcomes:

• Identify the early warning signs and subtle indicators of an abusive relationship.

• Learn concrete, actionable steps for providing support and connecting victims with professional help.
